Robert Franklin "Bob" Deputy, 92, of Harrisonburg, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Deputy was born Nov. 24, 1915, in Washington, D.C., and was the son of the late Isaac and Ollie Liskey Deputy.
He was a lifetime resident of the area and attended St. Andrews United Church of Christ. He was a farmer and a feed salesman with Conagra Feed Company. He was a member of the Virginia Angus Association, a two-time Governor of the Loyal Order of the Moose and was the last living charter member of the Keezletown Ruritan Club.
Mr. Deputy was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of Rion Bowman VFW Post No. 632 and the Mount Crawford Ruritan Club. He assisted annually with cattle sales at the Rockingham County and Virginia State Fairs.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vada Steele Deputy.
Survivors include his wife, Elenora Menefee Deputy; a stepdaughter, Ann M. Jarrels of Mount Crawford; a stepson, Warren L. Sampson of Grottoes; a sister, Virginia D. Roberts of Stephens City and a nephew.
The Rev. Doyle Payne will conduct a graveside service 3 p.m. Tuesday at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens near Harrisonburg.
There will be no formal visitation but friends are invited to come by the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg at anytime.
