Loretta M. Rexrode

Loretta Mae Morris Rexrode, 70, of Grottoes, died Friday July 11, 2008, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

Mrs. Rexrode was born March 6, 1938, in Lynnwood, Va., and was the daughter of Lucille Gooden Morris and the late Alfred B. Morris. On Aug.11, 1956, she married Sevie “Rex” Rexrode, who survives.

In addition to her husband she is also survived by one son, Kevin Rexrode and wife, Rachel, of McGaheysville; one daughter, Lynne’ Rhodes and husband, Dennis, of Port Republic; one brother, Wayne Morris and wife, Stephanie, of Elkton; two sisters, Barbara “Bobbie” Ann Rogers, of Gaithersburg, Md., Linda Hottinger and husband, Lonnie of Weyers Cave; six grandchildren, Jeremy Rexrode and wife Teresa, Tabitha Kaczorowski and husband, Ken, Benjermin “Ben” Rexrode, Caline Rexrode, Kevin Morris and wife, Michelle, Crystal Jones and husband, Marcel; five great-grandchildren, Mackenzie “Mack” Rexrode, Matthew Rexrode, Jordan Buchanan, Emily Morris, and Hannah Morris; and one great-great-grandchild, Aidan Rexrode; and special friends, Carson Rexrode and Raymond Rexrode.

Mrs. Rexrode was a longtime member of Mount Olive Brethren Church in Pineville. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.

Funeral services will be held at the Mount Olive Brethren Church at 3 p.m. Sunday July 13, 2008, with the Pastor Fred Miller officiating. Entombment will follow at the Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg, 3173 Spotswood Trail (Rt. 33) on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitors are also welcome at the home of Lucille Morris, 13657 South Eastside Highway, Port Republic.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Grottoes Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1187, Grottoes, VA 24441 or to the Grottoes Fire Department, P.O. Box 67, Grottoes, VA 24441.

I am so sorry for your loss. Loretta was a special person and will be missed . I always enjoyed talking to her when she came by the office.

I was in shock to find this out on-line. Loretta was such a wounderful, loving, and caring lady.

Loretta was just in at the shop Tues. to borrow a broom to sweep the sidewalk, so you can imagine my shock Fri. when I got the news. This is a terrible loss for us all. She was a wonderful lady.My heart goes out to Rex and the entire family. Though I did`t see her often, I will truly miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Sorry I couldn\'t be with you all on Sunday, My thoughts are with you. Bobbie Ann, so sorry I missed you Saturday evening. I know you, Linda and Wayne are going to miss your big sister. I sure will, just knowing I can\'t pick up the phone and call her. She was very special to me. Thoughts and prayers are with you.

My thoughts and prayers are with each of you. I've known the family for thirty-five years and although we don't see each other often you are all special to me. Loretta will truly be missed by so many. She was always so kind and pleasant in meetings with me. Peace be with you.
