James Carroll Hensley, 72, of Elkton, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.

Mr. Hensley was born Oct. 21, 1935, in Rockingham County near Elkton, and was the son of the late James Wesley and Della Shifflett Hensley.

He retired from Dean’s Tree Service and was a member of the Shenandoah Moose Lodge.

Survivors include his companion, Lena P. Shifflett of Elkton; a son, James C. Hensley Jr. of Shenandoah; two daughters, Teresa Hensley of Elkton and Susan Fay McInerney of Shenandoah; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three stepchildren, Calvin Shifflett and Frank Shifflett, both of Pennsylvania and Marilyn Shifflett of Shenandoah; eight stepgrandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

Pastor Carter Dean will conduct a graveside service 3 p.m. today at Elk Run Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Elkton Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 146, Elkton, VA 22827.

Arrangements are by Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton.

	I am sorry for your lost. Jimmy was my first cousin. His mother, Aunt Della always talked about him and even though I did not know him it was through her that I did know him.     May Jimmy rest in peace.
