Brian Douglas Crantz, 48, of Grottoes, passed away Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010.
Mr. Crantz was born Feb. 28, 1962, in Harrisonburg, and was a son of the late Bobby Lee and surviving Beatrice "Bea" (Bruce) Crantz.
After graduating from Massanutten Vocational/Technical School and Turner Ashby High School, Brian worked as a self-employed mechanic for many years. He also ran the sound board for "Mirage" and several local bands. Brian was also very active with the Special Olympics for the past 15 years. He enjoyed hunting, camping, cooking, eating, and loved watching NASCAR and riding his 4-wheeler. Brian never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone. He was a loving son, husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, and grandfather to his beloved and precious granddaughter, Addysen.
He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Cami Weatherholtz. In addition to his wife and mother, Brian is survived by a son, Barron Weatherholtz and wife, Heather, of Grottoes; two brothers, Tim Spiers and wife, Donna, of Briery Branch and Bruce Crantz and wife, Sally, of Harrisonburg; a sister, Belinda Crantz of Harrisonburg; a granddaughter, Addysen Weatherholtz; three nieces, Jessica Spiers, Casey Crantz and Brittney Scott; three nephews, Spencer Crantz, Hayden Scott and R.J. Grose; and two dogs, Luke and Snickers.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with pastors Cindy and Dubby Carr officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics Area 4, P.O. Box 1906, Harrisonburg, VA 22803.
