Lebert Shifflett

Lebert Shifflett, 68, of Elkton, went to be with his Lord Aug. 30, 2010, at his home surrounded by his family.

Mr. Shifflett was born March 7, 1942, in Stanardsville, Va., to the late Wilmer and Earla Dean Shifflett.

Lebert was a member of the Bible Holiness Church in Elkton and retired from Packaging Corp. of America. He loved his family, grandchildren and his church very much and was known as "candy man."

On Dec. 24, 1960, he married Ann Monger Shifflett, who survives. He is also survived by his children, Patricia Sly and husband, Wayne, of Shenandoah, Diana St.Clair and husband, Richard, of Elkton and Lebert Wayne Shifflett and wife, Karen, of Port Republic; six grandchildren, Richard St.Clair Jr. and wife, Jessica, Travis Sly and wife, Katie, Heather Harrison and husband, Chip, Erica Prichard and husband, Kyle, Eric Shifflett and Ashley St.Clair; four great-grandchildren, Mason and River St.Clair, Isaac and Anna Harrison and baby Prichard on the way; two brothers, Elbert Shifflett and wife, Joyce, Bruce Shifflett and wife, Wendy, all of Stanardsville; four sisters, Lena Meadows and husband, Carl, of Elkton, Lillian Powell and husband, Griffin, Rita Roach and companion, Clyde Taylor, Faye Williams and husband, David, all of Stanardsville. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Wilmer N. (Thurman) Shifflett.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at the Bible Holiness Church in Elkton with the Rev. Matt Homer and the Rev. Tim Simmons officiating. Burial will follow at the McAlister Cemetery in Shenandoah.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton. Friends may also call at the Shifflett home at anytime.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kyger Funeral Home, 115 Nicholson Road, Elkton, VA 22827 to help offset funeral expenses.

Sis. Ann and Family
Bro. Lee was such an inspirational person to Richard and I. Always had a smile
and a kind word to say. I'll always remember the cinnamon candy he shared with
us in church. Though he has passed to his reward, his life will remain as a
testimony of a Christian friend.
