Ethel B. Wilfong

Ethel Beatrice Knight Wilfong, 84, of Harrisonburg, passed away Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at Crestwood of the Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community.

Mrs. Wilfong was born Feb. 10, 1926, in the Singers Glen area of Rockingham County, and was a daughter of the late Lanzy and Victoria Shifflett Knight.

She was a homemaker and raised Boston terriers and pugs when she owned and operated Wilfong's Kennel.  Mrs. Wilfong also did upholstery work and enjoyed working with ceramics.  She loved to garden and cook and was very active within her church.

On Jan. 3, 1944, she married William C. "Buddy" Wilfong, who preceded her in death on Jan. 31, 2007.

Mrs. Wilfong is survived by a brother, Charles Knight of Harrisonburg; two sisters, Frances Casiday and Margie Wilfong, both of Harrisonburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with Pastor Tony Hiles and the Rev. Jeff Ferguson officiating.  Burial will follow at Beaver Creek Cemetery near Dayton.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the funeral home. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Family Worship Center, 56 Carlton St., Harrisonburg, VA 22801.

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of Ethel. I first met her 4 years ago when I
first started to Greatest Freedom Ministroes and she was such a delighful woman.
She will always be remembered.

Ethel will be missed greatly. After only a few meetings with her I knew she was
a woman of great faith. She will be missed by all who loved her.
