Ira Glen "Buddy" Good, 53, of Staunton, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2010.

Buddy was born May 3, 1957, in Rockingham County, and was a son of Glen Franklin and Catherine Conley Good . He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Ollie Conley, and Stafford and Glenna Good.

Buddy was an Army veteran and attended Family Worship Center. He liked to hunt, fish, and spend time with his grandson.

Buddy is survived by one daughter, Amanda Cave; one grandson, Akis Cave; three brothers, Stafford F. Good, Danny C. Sheffer and wife, Valeria, and Scott Keyser; one sister, Ginger A. Sheffer; one aunt, Charlotte Clarke; one uncle, Joe Good; nieces and nephews, Jessica and Jordon Huffer, Eric, Brittany and Katrina Sheffer, Christopher and Laurin Good, and Brandy Keyser; friends, Brian Phillips, Joe Barton, Misty, Ashley, Buddy, Kim Sheffer, Carolyn and Bernard Wilfong, and Chastity Newlen.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010, at Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisonburg with Pastors Tony Hiles and David Kite officiating.

To all of Buddy's family members I wish to convey my condolenses. He was a classmate of mine and I was possibly looking at seeing him again at our class reunion in October. He was a very nice fellow and I can really remember his laughing and that great big smile of his. He will be sorely missed I'm sure. I worked with Buddy at Rockingham Coop, you couldn't find a more friendly person. He actually helped me to acquire my current job through his wife, Pat, many years ago. Just found out about Buddy's passing today. My condolenses to the family. Buddy was a special person and no matter how long it had been since we had last seen each other when I would see him the first thing he would do is smile and give me hug. I'm sorry I hadn't seen him recently or was able to say good-bye but in my heart I know there's one more person upstairs watching over me now.
