Agnes S. Smith, 87, of Harrisonburg, died Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, at Oak Lea Nursing Home.

Agnes was born May 22, 1923, in Harrisonburg, and was the daughter of the late Jacob Harvey and Edith Thelma Huff Sisler. 

She was predeceased by her husband, Verlin Doyle Smith, her son, Verlin Keith Smith, and her sister Alice Gardner. She is survived by her sister, Anna Mae Sisler Crist, and a niece, Donna Gail Crist Sacra.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, at Mill Creek Church Cemetery with the Rev. Bernie Fuska officiating.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Kyger Funeral Home and Crematory in Harrisonburg.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Agnes' memory to Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community, 1401 Virginia Ave., Harrisonburg, VA 22802. Online condolences may be made to Agnes' loved ones by visiting www.kygers.com.

Condolences Hello, my name is Linda, and I knew Agnes for quite a few years. I work at J.C. Penny's, and she was a regular visitor there. Every time Agnes and her friend Pat would come they would be sure to ask for me and I always enjoyed our time together. She was always so full of life and joy and was a true free-spirit.
