Robert Eugene "Sonny" Clatterbuck, 68, of Harrisonburg, passed away Aug. 15, 2010, at Willow Estates in Penn Laird.
Mr. Clatterbuck was born Nov. 2, 1941, in Rockingham County, and was the son of the late Robert and Charlotte Newman Clatterbuck. He retired from the Virginia Dept. of Transportation with over 30 years of service. He enjoyed horse racing, NASCAR, and watching his favorite driver No. 24 Jeff Gordon.
Mr. Clatterbuck is survived by a daughter, Robin Coakley and fiance Keith Litten, Mount Crawford; one grandson, Wes Coakley; brothers, Norman Clatterbuck and wife, Pat, Harrisonburg, Kenny Clatterbuck, Staunton; sisters, Doris Joseph, Mona Ageon, Shirley Raines and husband, Rusty, all of Harrisonburg, and Phyllis Rowe, Dayton. Besides his parents, Sonny was preceded in death by a brother, Gary "Peanut" Clatterbuck, and a sister, Carolyn "Tilly" Carpenter.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisonburg. The Rev. Richard Early will conduct the service. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens near Harrisonburg.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening 7 to 8 pm at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
