Berlon Cleo Eppard, 81, of Elkton, died July 23, 2010, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Eppard was born on Aug. 10, 1928, in Elkton, Va., and was a son of the late Elmer Clyde and Gladys Hensley Eppard.
He retired from McQuay International, formerly Westinghouse, where he worked as a mechanic. He was also a self-employed farmer. Berlon was an avid bear hunter, and he loved hunting with his grandson, Jeffery, his brother, Hensel, and many special friends. During the Korean War, Mr. Eppard served in the United States Army. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.
On Dec. 25, 1959, he married Betty Dean, who survives.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Eppard is survived by a son, Berlon Anthony Eppard of Elkton; a daughter, Shirley Dean and husband, Berlyn (Bubby) of Elkton; three brothers, Eugene Eppard of Stanardsville, Lonnie Eppard of Elkton and Jesse Eppard of Elkton; two sisters, Beulah Lam of Elkton and Beatrice Dean of Baltimore, Md.; two grandchildren, Crystal Davis and husband, Paul, of Elkton, and Jeffrey Dean and wife, Christie, of Elkton; five great-grandchildren, Brittany Shae Miller, Kaiden Trae Davis, Alex Davis, Sarah Dean and Tyler Dean, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Eppard was preceded in death by his brother, Hensel Eppard.
A private burial was held on Sunday, July 25, at the Hensley's United Methodist Church Cemetery near Elkton.
