Cletus F. Conley, 47, of McGaheysville, passed away Friday, July 16, 2010, at his home.
Cletus was born Dec. 21, 1962, in Charlottesville. He was the son of Lester F. Conley and stepmother, Doris Conley and the late Lucille Collier. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Lisa M. Shifflett, and cousin, Gene Conley.
Cletus worked in construction with W.A. Lynch Roofing for 14 years and most recently as a window installer with Glass and Metals of Harrisonburg. He recently retired due to a battle with cancer. He loved to fight roosters and enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.
Surviving is his wife, Darlene Conley, whom he married on March 12, 1982. In addition to his wife, Cletus is survived by two sons, Chad L. and Christopher R. Conley; granddaughter, Natalie M. Conley; brother, Melvin Conley; sister, Rebecca Shifflett; mother-in-law, Magdaline Cockrell; two stepbrothers, Clinton and Wade Dean; stepsister, Marion Bowman; a nephew, who was like a son, Travis L. Conley, and several other close family members. Cletus is also survived by numerous friends who were very near to his heart.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2010, at the Souls Harbor Pentecostal Church in Elkton. Pastor Alvin Dovel will conduct the service. Burial will be held at Elk Run Cemetery in Elkton.
The Conley family will receive friends Sunday, July 18, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton and other times at the family residence.
