Winford Lee Morris, 69, of Elkton, passed away July 10, 2010, at his home.
Mr. Morris was born July 29, 1940, in Greene County, and was a son of the late John Ed and Lottie Shifflett Morris.
He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He retired from James Madison University after 35 years of service.
On April 25, 1960, he married Nioka (Dean) Morris, who survives. Also surviving are sons, Winston Morris and wife, Sharon, Kenny Morris and wife, Angie, and Richard Morris and wife, Amy, all of Elkton; a daughter, Diane Morris Hammer of Elkton; brothers, John Morris and wife, Shirley, Junior Morris and wife, Shirley, all of Elkton; grandchildren, Jennifer Breeden, April Campbell, Michael Hammer, Jeremy Morris, Nathan Morris, Jonathan Morris, James Kisling, Tony Morris, Chancellor Morris and Cortland Morris; and great-grandchildren, Samantha Hammer, Brittany Breeden, Gabby Campbell, Bud Campbell, Olivia Morris and Jada Brooke Kisling. Besides his parents, Mr. Morris was preceded in death by sisters, Alice Lucas and Addie White.
The Rev. Nona Allen and the Rev. Fuzzy Cardin will conduct the funeral service 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at the Furnace United Methodist Church on Naked Creek. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens near Harrisonburg.
The family will receive friends today (Monday) from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Elkton. Friends may also call at the Morris home at any time.
