Janice Beaty Oliver, 78, of Mount Solon, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.
Mrs. Oliver was born on Jan. 13, 1932, in Valdosta, Ga., and was a daughter of the late James and Maude Simpson Beaty.
Janice worked for the U.S. government for many years as an aide on Capitol Hill, and most recently as a claims adjuster for the Social Security Administration. She enjoyed swimming and riding horses. Mrs. Oliver was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
Mrs. Oliver is survived by three sons, Chuck Rutherford and wife, Sylvia, of Mount Solon, Ken Rutherford and wife, Mary, of Umatilla, Fla., and Tom Rutherford and wife, Linda, of Branchport, N.Y.; a sister, Ann Kingery of Brunswick, Ga.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service and private burial will be held at a later date in Valdosta, Ga.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mount Solon Volunteer Fire Company and Rescue Squad, 86 Emmanuel Church Road, Mount Solon, VA 22843.
