Michael Wayne Grogg

Michael Wayne Grogg, 44, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Sunday June 13, 2010, at his residence.

Mr. Grogg was born on July 23, 1965, in Harrisonburg, and was a son of the late Robert Grogg Sr. and surviving Betty Snyder Grogg Armstrong.

Mike had been employed by Perdue Farms and was a member of the Freedom Baptist Church. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved fishing. He also enjoyed playing with his children and taking them to the park, working in his yard and playing video games. 

On Dec. 29, 1988, he married Sherry Grogg, who survives.

In addition to his wife, Michael is survived by two children, William Michael Grogg and Angel Lynn Grogg; a brother, Robert Grogg Jr. of Linville; two sisters, Tammy Whitmer and husband, Russell, of Harrisonburg, and Lori Mitchell of Harrisonburg; numerous nieces and nephews; and stepfather, Joe Armstrong.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with pastors Mike Mehling and Dale Goodwin officiating.  Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg. There will be no formal visitation time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Freedom Baptist Church, 141 Pleasant Hill Road, Harrisonburg, VA 22801.

So sorry to hear about the loss of Mike. He was a nice person. I didn't get to
talk to him much, only when he would come in to pay on his electric bill.
