Larry Eugene Morris, Sr.

Larry Eugene Morris Sr., 65, of Elkton, passed away June 13, 2010, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Morris was born June 22, 1944, in Red Brush near Elkton, and was the son of the late Jesse James and Mamie Frances Williams Morris.

He attended Fox Mountain School and Bear Lithia Baptist Church. He was a member of the Shenandoah Moose Lodge 2176 and enjoyed camping and fishing and catching the morning sun sitting on his porch. He had worked at Ray Carr Tires for a number of years.

Mr. Morris was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen (Cricket) Morris. He is survived by a son, Larry E. Morris Jr. and wife, Amy, of Elkton; stepsons, Jason L. Stevens and wife, Stephanie, Andy Meadows and wife, Natasha, C.P. Breeden and wife, Carolyn, all of Elkton; daughters, Christy Shifflett, Misty Sampson and husband, Randy, all of Elkton; brothers, Billy Morris and wife, Laura, Bobby Morris and wife, Diane, all of Elkton; sisters, JoAnne Hammer and husband, Melvin, of Elkton, Linda Burch and fiancé, Mike Via, of Bridgewater, Melissa Kuehle and husband, Darrell, of Elkton; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pastor Donald Leatherman will conduct the funeral service 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Elkton. Burial will follow in the Elk Run Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
