Lucille Mae Ellison Wilburn, 85, of Singers Glen, passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at Rockingham Memorial Hospita l.
Mrs. Wilburn was born on April 5, 1925, in Sutton, W.Va., and was a daughter of the late Charlie Curt and Ora Pearl Ayers Ellison.
Lucille worked for Stone Straw Company in Washington, D.C., for 27 years in several different positions. Locally, she worked for the Metro Pants Factory in Bridgewater for eight years prior to her retirement. Following her retirement, she worked for the Metro Pants Retail Store, babysat children and traveled across the United States. Mrs. Wilburn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend.
On Aug. 20, 1944, she married Leroy Wilburn, who preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 2005.
Mrs. Wilburn is survived by two sons, Charles Bailey of Seabrook, Md., and Larry Wilburn and wife, Julie, of Dayton; four daughters, Carolyn Thompson of Singers Glen, Linda Mowbray and husband, Donnie, of Penn Laird, Brenda Seifried and husband, Jim, of Singers Glen, and Vicki Hornbuckle and husband, Gary, of Nacogdoches, Texas; 27 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Frederick Ellison and wife, Ann, of Cleveland, Ohio, and Junior Curt Ellison and wife, Phyllis, of Greenville, S.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Wilburn was preceded in death by a son, Jesse Lee Wilburn; three sisters, Janet M. Crosby, Helen F. Ellison, and Pearl J. Ellison; three brothers, Woody Ellison, Walter Ellison, and Pete Ellison; two grandsons, Donnie "Buck" Mowbray, and Brandon Rosenberger; a granddaughter, Tynia Warner; a great-grandson, Timmy Warner; and a daughter-in-law, Sharon Bailey.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Taylor officiating. Entombment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens near Harrisonburg. The Pallbearers will be her granddaughters.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
