Nancy "MiMi" Simora

Nancy "Mimi" Simora of Harrisonburg passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2010, at her residence.

Mrs. Simora was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was a daughter of the late Ernest and Helen Shields Marquardt.

Nancy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, "Mimi", sister, and friend.  She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where she also served as a Eucharistic Minister. Nancy always enjoyed spending time at Smith Mountain Lake and trips to the beach with her family. She had a big heart, a great sense of humor, unlimited generosity, and was always optimistic saying, "count your blessings."  Nancy also loved the Christmas holiday. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports and was "Sports Mimi" to many.

On Nov. 27, 1965, she married Milton Simora, who survives.

In addition to Mr. Simora, Nancy is survived by a son, Rob Simora and his wife, Kristin, of Raleigh, N.C.; a daughter, Kimberly Pisk and her husband, Eric, of Harrisonburg; a brother, Greg Marquardt of Pennsylvania; a sister, Helen Bertoli of New Jersey; six grandchildren, Taylor Pisk, Trevor Simora, Jack Pisk, Madelyn Simora, Emily Simora, and Natalie Simora; several nieces and nephews; numerous cousins; and an endless group of friends. She was preceded in death by two Angelic grandsons, Ryan and Andrew Pisk.

May the road rise to meet you, May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, The rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at 12 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church with Father Thomas Mattingly officiating.  The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service and also following the service in Johnson Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.

Online condolences may be sent to the Simora family by visiting www.kygers.com.

Arrangements entrusted to the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.

I only knew Nancy from the pilates studio but she was a wonderful presence.
Always curious about other people & ready with a big smile or compliment. She
was a joy to be around. She touched the hearts of so many that she probably
wasn't even aware of it. Please accept my prayers. I know she will be
immeasurably missed by you & your family.
