Jill Howard McNealy of Massanutten, Va., died Sunday, May 9, 2010, in Broadway, Va.
Mrs. McNealy was born Sept. 26, 1933, in Buffalo, N.Y., and was a daughter of the late Harry and Elisabeth Howard.
She was a graduate of Radliffe College, Cambridge, Mass., and held a master's degree in education from Boston University. She worked as a schoolteacher and later as a research assistant at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. Mrs. McNealy was active in a variety of community organizations, including president of the Alexandria Virginia Volunteer Bureau.
On Dec. 24, 1958, she married Richard K. McNealy, who survives. She also leaves a daughter, Sarina Lewis of Dilwyn, Va.; a son, Richard H. McNealy of Manassas, Va.; and a sister, Hatchy Davis of Charlotte, N.C.
Ms. McNealy will be fondly remembered for her love of gardening and nature. Her life took her to many places throughout the world, from Asia to Europe. Always, she was a contributor to the society around her and a friend of the environment. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
A private memorial service will be planned for the future to include family and friends.
