Thomas Arthur Pendleton Sr., 87, of Elkton passed away at his home on Wednesday, May 5, 2010. He was born on March 1, 1923, in Goshen to the late Thomas Robert and Mary Seal Pendleton. 
Mr. Pendleton was a U.S. Army Veteran and held tours of duty in Panama, Republic of the Philippines and Hawaii. He was diversified with a variety of employment including school bus driver, tow truck driver and trolley operator in Washington, D.C. He retired from the Merrifield central office of the U.S. Postal Service and locally was employed at the Elkton Chevron station, Smith's Hardware and Advance Auto Parts, all in Elkton. He enjoyed reading the Bible, relaxing with a game of cards or bowling with his family.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Jean Marie (Robinson) Pendleton, whom he married on April 1, 1961. Also surviving are his daughter, Wanda M. Yetter and husband, Randy, of Elkton; his sister, Ruby Horn, of Staunton; four sisters-in-law, Helen Coffey, Mary Coffey, Nancy Ongaro and Patricia Butler; one brother-in-law, Redford "Johnny" Robinson; three grandchildren, Thomas Yetter and wife, Holly, Jennifer Hammer and husband, William III, and Brandon Yetter; six great-grandchildren, Joey Hammer, Hailey Hammer, Malachi Hammer, Kameron Yetter, Isaiah Yetter and Danica Yetter; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Frances Acker and her daughter, Sierra.
He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Arthur Pendleton Jr.; two brothers; one sister; four brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 10, 2010, at the Kyger Funeral Home chapel in Elkton with Anthony D. Lawson and Pastor James Kite officiating.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia with honors provided by the U.S. military.
