Theodore P. Hensley

Theodore Parker Hensley, 85, of McGaheysville, passed away May 2, 2010, at his daughter's home near Elkton.

Mr. Hensley was born Feb. 20, 1925, in Rockingham County, and was the son of the late Thomas Lee and Fannie Gertrude Dean Hensley.

He was a member of the Blue Ridge Independent Church. He was a master craftsman and retired from Nielsen Construction after 35 years of service. He loved to hunt, especially small game, fishing and western movies. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.

On Oct. 29, 1949, he married Rosa Florine (Conley) Hensley, who preceded him in death on March 9, 2006. Mr. Hensley is survived by sons, Theodore J. "Teddy" Hensley and wife, Kathy, of McGaheysville, Larry W. Hensley and wife, Kathryn, of Elkton; a daughter, Nileen G. Dobscha and husband, Robert, of Elkton; a son-in-law, Callie Bauserman, of Elkton; brothers, Dennis W. Hensley, Junior L. Hensley, Winston M. Hensley and Douglas O. Hensley, all of McGaheysville, and Earl R. Hensley of Elkton; sisters, Peggy A. Merica of Elkton, and Carlene McAvoy of Harrisonburg; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Bauserman, brothers, Wayne, Donnie and Randolph Hensley, and sister, Marlene Moubray.

Pastor Brad Lewis will conduct the funeral service 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Blue Ridge Independent Church near Elkton. Burial will follow at the Mount Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Valley Program for the Aging Services, 325 Pine Ave., Waynesboro, VA 22980 or the McGaheysville Fire Dept., 80 Stover Drive, McGaheysville, VA 22840.

his last months. it should comfort you to know you gave him the care he
deserved. our parents gave us so much and this is just something we can give
back. you and your family are in our prayers. we love you.
