Judy, I am so sorry for your loss. I still remember our trip together to the
Enlisted conference at the beach. I wish I could attend the funeral Sat to
support you but I am in Tampa for 2 weeks. Phil was a good man and he will be
missed. I will miss him because of his outgoing personaility. He would take
the shirt off his back to help someone. Please call me if you need to talk.

To the entire Phillip Diehl Family
I was a neighbor of Phillip's growing up in Grottoes and am VERY SORRY for your
loss. I had not seen Phillip for many years until a few years ago at the
Thunderbird Cafe in McGaheysville and then again last September when my Mom
passed away. I appreciated so much that Claude, Phillip, and Mickey took time
out of their schedules to come to the funeral home. I wish I could come to
family night to support you, but we will be out of town through Monday. Please
know that you will be in my continued thoughts and prayers.

To the Diehl Family
Judy,

I am terribly sorry that you are going through this ordeal. I served
with Phil for many years in the Guard and thought of him as a good friend and
soldier. He will be missed and not forgotten.

If there is ever anything
that I can do to help you, please do not hesitate to give me a call.

Please accept our sincere condolences
I can not express in words the loss I feel but I know that it can not match
Phil's family's loss. I worked with Phil for at least 12 years, often lived
with him under both moderately pleasant and genuinely difficult conditions. He
was never less than helpful, decent, professional, and dedicated. Even after my
retirement, he was always available to help me when needed. I will always
remember his many kindnesses and the good times we enjoyed.

I worked with Phil for many years in the Guard. He was selfless in service and a
good friend. He had a sense of humor that made the difficult a little easier,
and the time go by a little quicker. Warmest regards to you and the family.

The lose of a friend
Mrs. Phillip Diehl and Diehl family,

My name is Frank M. Daniel, Phil and I
worked out of the Harrisonburg National Guard Armory during the 1980s. Moments
ago I received word of Phil's passing. I am so sorry for your loss. The last
time I spoke with Phil was when I visited him and Fonia Cook, when they were
assigned to the Staunton Armory. I gave them some gifts from my neck of the
woods in San Antonio,Texas. He was pleased with the gifts made in Mexico. It
was good to reminisce old times. Phil made me feel at home when I first arrived
to the Harrisonburg unit. He was a good friend and he will be missed.

Diehl Family,
Brenda & I will always remember Phil.
I served with him during
his early years
in the Guard at Staunton, and later at
Richmond. Phil could
always be counted on to get the job done right. He was a student of history,
especially the Civil War. He respected the uniform and served his state and his

country with honor.
