Rachel Cumbie Blosser, 84, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Thursday April 15, 2010 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Blosser was born on February 11, 1926 in Lynchburg, VA and was a daughter of the late Broaddus Lee and Annie Cox Cumbie. She was a homemaker, and also worked part time for F.W. Woolworth’s. Mrs. Blosser was a loving and caring, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
On April 3, 1944, she married George Ralph Blosser, who preceded her in death on May 27, 2004.
Mrs. Blosser is survived by a daughter, Sharon Blosser Shenk and husband Frank of Harrisonburg; four sisters, Teresa Cumbie, Crystal Hayden, Faye Kersh, and Beryle Cumbie, all of Harrisonburg; one granddaughter, Heidi Shenk Phillips; three great-grandchildren, Lauren Erin Shenk, Logan Brent Phillips, Lane Patrick Phillips; a niece, Anna Steele; a nephew, Dr. Ronald Kersh; seven great-nieces; one great-nephew; and her loving canine friend, Maddie. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amy Dawn Shenk; and a niece Carrol Kersh Bruce.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday April 17, 2010 at 2 pm at Woodbine Cemetery, with Chaplin Penny Driediger officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 7 until 8:30 PM at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
