Winston Ishmul "Wink" Knight

          Winston Ishmul “Wink” Knight, 77 of McGaheysville, passed away March 18, 2010 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.

          Wink was born March  6, 1933 in Island Ford, near Elkton, and was the son of the late Zeb and Belle  Shifflett  Knight. He served our country in the United States Army  in Germany during the Korean War and   was a member of the St. Stephens and the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Rocky Bar, and the Gooden Brothers V.F.W. Post 9292 at Elkton.  He worked at Highway Motors for twenty years and retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation after 19 years of service. He loved going to flea markets, auctions, and enjoyed  fishing & gardening.

          Wink is survived by his wife, Neva (Charlton) Knight, whom he married June 3, 1961; a son, Winston I.”Bo” Knight II, McGaheysville; daughters, Deborah Lucas & fiancée, John Boone,  Rhonda Conley & husband, Eric  all of Elkton; sisters, Delores Marshall, Harrisonburg, Wanda Heatwole, McGaheysville; 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and his beloved dog “Sable”.  Besides his parents, Wink was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 4 brothers.

          The Rev. Stuart Wood will conduct the funeral service 2:00 pm Sunday, March 21, 2010 at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisonburg. Burial will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville with graveside rites by the Gooden Brothers V.F.W. Post 9292 at Elkton.  

          The family will receive friends Saturday evening 7 to 8 pm at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.

          Wink’s family has requested that in lieu of flowers memorial gifts  be made to the R.M.H. Hospice, 2356 Cantrell Ave. Harrisonburg, Virginia  22801.
