Alice Mae Morris Lucas, 74, a resident of Loyalton of Harrisonburg, formerly of Shenandoah, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Lucas was born Feb. 10, 1936, in Greene County and was a daughter of the late John E. and Lottie Shifflett Morris. Alice worked as an assembler for GenieCom for more than 35 years prior to her retirement. She loved to garden and cook. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Franklin Lucas, on Dec. 14, 1991.
Mrs. Lucas is survived by a son, Ferral "Pete" Lucas, of Grottoes; three brothers, Winford Morris, John Morris and Junior Morris, all of Elkton; two granddaughters and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Addie White.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton, with pastors Jimmy Kite and Jim Noakes officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens near Harrisonburg. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
