Elwood Lewis "Woody" Miller

Elwood Lewis "Woody" Miller, 58, of Crimora, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Miller was born Nov. 16, 1951, in Rockingham County and was a son of the late Clyde Lewis and surviving Gladys May Knight Miller. Woody was active in the Virginia National Guard for 10 years, the Virginia Defense Force for six years, and the Civil Air Patrol for 12 years. He was a security guard for Massanutten Resort and also owned and operated Miller's Mowing Service. Woody was a member of the NRA, and loved to hunt and fish. He never met a stranger, and was always helping others.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Miller is survived a brother, Jesse Miller and wife, Linda, of Lacey Spring; two sisters, Goldie Mullins of Shenandoah and Helen L. Carper and husband, James, of Harrisonburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday Feb. 20, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg, with Rev. Wayne Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Elwood. I have many great memories of
him and family. Elwood was a very good hearted individual that will be missed.

We were very saddened to hear of Mr. Miller's sudden passing. We have been his

He was one of my favorite cousins I truly feel empty knowing that a true friend
is gone . and old saying you cant pick your family but you can your friends i
can say he was my family and my friend .I know he will watch over all of us and

elwood was my uncle. We will miss him dearly. He was always at our house
helping his great neices with their homework or things that needed done around
the house whether we asked or not. He had an unconditional love for all and a
great sense of humor.
