Emma C. Breeden

Emma Christine Breeden, 67, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Breeden was born on March 18, 1942, on Thorn Creek, near Franklin, W.Va., and was a daughter of the late Harvey and Zettie Whetzel Rexrode.

Emma worked for Byrd's Restaurant, New Frontier and Thompsons, all in the Franklin, W.Va., area, and the Old Virginia Ham Caf?, the Lunch Counter of Roses Store and South Main St. Laundry. 

On Jan. 21, 1996, she married Ronald Breeden, who preceded her in death on April 4, 1999. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Ruby Eye, Florence Hedrick, Martha Rexrode and Margaret Wolfe.

Mrs. Breeden is survived by two sons, Donald Phares of Harrisonburg and companion, Vicki Short, of Lebanon, Va., Rick Phares and companion, Marsha Crow, of Linville; a daughter, Sherry Wean and husband, Steven, of Harrisonburg; a sister, Alice Rexrode of Harrisonburg; four grandchildren, Jolene Louderback, Steven Wean, Matthew Phares and Aspen Phares; and one great-grandson, Brandon Tucker.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Westside Baptist Church in Harrisonburg with the Revs. Ted Shultz and Troy Pearson officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens near Harrisonburg.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
