Linda Ann Conger Life, 72, of Elkton, passed away Jan. 12, 2010, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, W.Va.
Mrs. Life was born May 24, 1937, in Rockingham County near Elkton, and was the daughter of the late Claude and Vivian Black Conger.
Mrs. Life was a member of the Elkton United Methodist Church, where she served on numerous church committees. She was the first women ever elected to the Elkton Town Council in 1978 and was past president of the Elkton Woman's Club. She was a secretary/bookkeeper at M.A. Layman, A.B. Torrence and Superior Concrete before retiring.
Her husband of 53 years, Randall David Life, preceded her in death on July 28, 2009. Mrs. Life is survived by a son, Michael (Mickey) Life and wife, Patricia, of Elkton; daughters, Michelle Turner and husband, Edward Jr., of Elkton, and Melissa VanGilder and husband, Brad, of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; and seven grandchildren, Randy and Kendra Life, Lea and Aaron Fletcher, Jordan, Taylor, and Charles VanGilder.
The Rev. David Reynolds will conduct the funeral service 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at the Elkton United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Mount Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton. Friends may also call at the home of her son, Mickey, in Elkton at any time.
