Ernest Charles Dean, Sr.

Ernest Charles Dean Sr., 70, of Elkton, passed away Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, at Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilitation Center in Harrisonburg.

Mr. Dean was born June 6, 1939, in the Mount Pleasant area of Elkton, and was the son of the late Edgar W. Dean and the late Selena Hensley Fravel.

Charles was a member of the Elkton Pentecostal Church in Elkton. He had previously worked for Dean\'s Steel Erection and Nielsen Construction, both of Harrisonburg, and most recently, Memco Construction of Culpeper.

Survivors include three children, Lisa A. Dean of Elkton, Ernest Charles \"Chuck\" Dean Jr. and wife, Teresa, of Elkton and Kimberly Dean of Richmond; two brothers, the Rev. Kemper L. Dean and wife, Loris, of Waynesboro and Willie H. Dean of Harrisonburg; a sister, Clarine N. Dean of Harrisonburg; sister-in-law, Janie C. Dean of Harrisonburg; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and 13 nieces. Besides his parents, Charles was also preceded in death by his wife, Linda Lee Dean, and infant daughter, Carolyn Dean.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, at the Elkton Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Travis Hensley and the Rev. Kinzy Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Eastawn Memorial Gardens near Harrisonburg. 

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton. Friends may also call at the home of Charles at anytime.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Elkton Emergency Squad, P.O. Box 152, Elkton, VA  22827.

We are tru;y and deeply sorry for the loss of your dad. And hope knowing that he
is now in a much better place comforts you all through this very sad time. Gary
says Charlie was always good to him and he truly is sorry for your loss.
