Stephen Roger Dinges, 68, of Luray, died on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at his home following an extended illness. He was born on Nov. 12, 1941, in Luray to the late Philip and Mattie Heiston Dinges.
Mr. Dinges graduated from Luray High School and was an owner/operator of Dinges Commodities for many years. His pastimes included hunting, fishing, and dirt track racing. He was an experienced pilot and logged over 2,000 personal hours.
Surviving are two sons, Stephen R. Dinges II and Philip M. Dinges, both of Luray; his daughter, Andrea M. Dinges of Manassas; his grandson, Joshua Dinges; his sister, Leah Berger of Williamsburg; one niece, one nephew and his beloved dog, The Duke.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at Leaksville United Church of Christ in Leaksville with Dr. Eddie Walker officiating. Interment will be private at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the home of his son, Stephen, 12 Oakcrest Drive, Luray.
