Clyde Furman McAlister, 86, died in his residence at VMRC Nov. 14, 2009. Born in Greenville, S.C., the son of Charles Furman and Clara Suttles McAlister, he attended schools in North Carolina and graduated from Furman University in 1946.
A college business administrator, he was director of business affairs at Douglas College in Rutgers University from 1957 to 1976.
He is survived by his wife, Ann L. McAlister; son, Robert L. McAlister of Ohio; daughters, Amy M. Eakes of North Carolina, and Elizabeth M. Cantor of Broadway; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at Valley Friends Meeting, 363 High St., Dayton, and VMRC at a later date.
