Leroy A. Everhart

Leroy Alfred Everhart, 70, of Harrisonburg, passed away at his home on Friday, Nov. 6, 2009. Mr. Everhart was born in Niles, Mich., on Sept. 24, 1939, and was the son of the late Paul and Aletha Tice Everhart.

Mr. Everhart was relocated with the Kawneer Co. to the area while establishing the Harrisonburg division. He was a charter member of the Belmont Ruritan Club and was active in both Revolutionary and Civil War re-enactments. He enjoyed history and was known for refurbishing musical drums and replicating both Civil and Revolutionary War uniforms. He also enjoyed portraying living history.

His surviving family includes his wife of 48 years, Mary Ann Everhart; his son, Scott A. Everhart and wife, Lori, of Harrisonburg; two daughters, Dawn E. Shomo and husband, Jeffrey, of Culpeper, and Kristin E. Funkhouser and husband, Patrick, of Harrisonburg; two grandchildren, Jordan Shomo and Derick Shomo; and two nieces.

A memorial service conducted by the Rev. Harold Myers will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at Shady Oak Hall in Harrisonburg (located adjacent to Weavers Mennonite Church on U.S. 33 West).

We will always remember leroy as the Constable at Court Days in Harrisonburg.
His guidance in creating Civil War attire continues to be invaluable. Thank you
to your family for sharing him with us. Our prayers are with you as you learn

I was so sorry to hear of Mr. Everhart's passing. I have such fond memories of
our families doing things together when we used to live in Bridgewater. I will
keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.
