Charles Louis \"Chiefy\" Boehman, 84, of Elkton, passed away Dec. 29, 2009, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.
Mr. Boehman was born Nov. 4, 1925, in Arlington, Va., and was the son of the late Louis and Margaret Dove Boehman.
He served our country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of the Gooden Brothers VFW Post 9292 at Elkton and the Shenandoah Moose Lodge 2176. He owned and operated Valley Grocery, also known as \"Chiefy\'s Place,\" in Elkton for many years.
His wife, Mary Clem Boehman, preceded him in death in May of 1988. He is survived by a daughter, Martha Naydock and husband, Harry, of Woodbridge; two grandchildren, Chris Naydock, Sean Naydock and wife, Dawn; two great -grandchildren, Christopher Smoot and Kiara Naydock; and caregivers, Dottie Hammer, Beverly Shifflett and Lucy Shifflett.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Elkton. Pastor Carter Dean will conduct the service. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens near Harrisonburg with military rites by the Gooden Brothers VFW Post 9292.
