Marion Emory "Pete" Knight, 86, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Knight was born on July 7, 1923, in Rockingham County, and was a son of the late Lanzy Paul and Victoria Shifflett Knight.
Pete was a laborer and custodian for Metro Pants in Harrisonburg prior to his retirement.
In 1975, he married Jo Ann Berry Knight, who preceded him in death in 2005.
Mr. Knight is survived by a stepson, James William "Bucky" Berry of Harrisonburg; a brother, Charles Knight of Harrisonburg; three sisters, Frances Casiday, Margie Wilfong and Ethel Wilfong, all of Harrisonburg; one stepgrandson, Brent Berry; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pete was preceded in death by four brothers, four sisters and two half sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with Pastor David Kite officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Mount Clinton Cemetery.
