Tammy J. Grimsley

Tammy Jill Rudolph Grimsley, 48, passed away peacefully Oct. 31, 2009, at her home in Shenandoah surrounded by her husband, daughters, and siblings. Tammy fought a courageous 17-month battle with cancer and is now with our Lord.

Tammy was born May 3, 1961, to the late Carl E. and Mary S. Rudolph of Shenandoah.

On Feb. 23, 1985, Tammy married the love of her life, Jeffrey S. Grimsley, who survives. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, to whom she devoted her life, Andrea Grimsley of Shenandoah, Stephanie Richards and husband, Dakota, of Stanley, and Bethany Price and husband, Brandon, of Clarksville, Tenn. Also surviving are her two beautiful grandchildren, Dawson Douglas Scott Richards and Chloe Mira Jill Price. Tammy was the youngest of her seven brothers and sisters, who also survive.

In addition to spending time with her loved ones, Tammy also enjoyed listening to Bluegrass and Gospel music; taking vacations to Cape Hatteras, N.C.; and reading scripture from her Bible. Tammy took pride in her community and was involved in various organizations throughout her life. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Shenandoah, an associate member of the Shenandoah Volunteer Fire Department, and the Secretary for Food For Friends in Shenandoah. Tammy touched the lives of many people and will always be remembered for her kindness and compassion towards others.

Funeral services will be held at Christ United Methodist Church on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, Nov. 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church.

Memorial donations may be made to the Christ United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Judy Jewell, 134 Marcus St., Shenandoah, VA 22849.

Online condolences may be sent to the Grimsley family by visiting www.kygers.com.

Arrangements entrusted to the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton.

With deepest sympathy
I have known Tammy for 35+ years. Tammy was such a good friend to me in our
youth. She not only shared herself, but her family life as well and it was at a
time I truly needed it most. Tammy was a true "giver". Although she
and I lost track as we went about our adult lives, I will never forget the times
we shared growing up and her compassion for everyone. I know Tammy touched many
lives and I will be forever grateful for her friendship. She will always be in
my heart. With Love and Sympathy to the entire family.

Dear Bethany:

You and your family have been in my thoughts and prayers ever
since I heard you mother had taken ill. I know that this is a very difficult
time for all of you. Cherish the memories of your mother, as they will help
ease the pain in time.

Dear Grimsley & Rudolph Families
We were glad that we were able to know Tammy. She was truly a giving person who
never knew the word no when it came to serving others. There are so many
memories that we will always cherish such as the honor club picnics, field trips
from SES & PCHS, the SES PTA talent shows, Brandon & Bethany's wedding and
remarkable reception catered by the Rudolph family, standing with us during the
fire at our hardware store, stopping to visit while grocery shopping in Elkton,
and her captivating smile. You will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.
With our love and sympathy--Garland, Rosemary, Jonathan & Juliana Comer
