Beverly Adkins Shoemaker, 68, of Grottoes, passed away on Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.
Mrs. Shoemaker was born on Nov. 1, 1940, in Harrisonburg, and was a daughter of Melvin Leon Adkins and the late Almeda Pearl Miller.
Bev was a member of Grottoes Church of Christ and was a homemaker. She, along with her husband, owned and operated Shoemaker\'s Servicenter in Penn Laird from 1972-1987.
On Sept. 5, 1959, she married Norris Jennings Shoemaker, who preceded her in death on Feb. 11, 2009.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her son, Barry J. Shoemaker of Grottoes; her daughter, Kelly S. Dean and husband, Rick, of McGaheysville; two sisters, Peggy Nadeau of McGaheysville and Alice Adkins of Goode, Va.; her brother, Ronald Adkins of Briery Branch; and her very special nieces, nephews and friends, whom she loved very much.
The family will receive friends for a time of fellowship and remembrance on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, from the hours of 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Grottoes Church of Christ (U.S. Route 340 South).
Kyger Funeral Home and Harrisonburg Cremation Service have been entrusted arrangements and a private burial will occur at a later date.
