Ronald L. Turner

Ronald Lee \"Ronnie\" Turner, 64, of Shenandoah, passed away Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Turner was born June 22, 1945, in Page County, and was the son of the late Charles Lee Turner Sr. and Reva Mae Lowery Turner.

Ronnie attended Page County schools and enjoyed woodworking, country gospel music and caring for his dogs. He owned and operated Turner Contractors until his retirement.

On Dec. 14, 1963, he married Stella Williams, who survives. He is also survived by two sons, David L. \"Toad\" Turner and wife, Gail, and Ronald L. \"Boy\" Turner Jr. and wife, Carol, all of Shenandoah; two daughters, Brenda A. \"Sissy\" Kirtley and husband, Vincent, and Ronda M. \"Belle\" Dean and husband, Scott, all of Elkton; three brothers, Charles \"Hootie\" Turner Jr. and Keith \"Bootie Bell\" Turner, both of Shenandoah, Timmy Turner and wife, Susie, of McGaheysville; three sisters, Shirley Dean, Darlene Pence and husband, Bobby, and Lisa Comer, all of Shenandoah; half sister, Dottie Gladwell and husband, Kenny, of Shenandoah; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Dakota Turner.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at the Lily of the Valley Church in Shenandoah with the Rev. L.J. \"Dickie\" Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at the George Comer Cemetery in the Fleeburg area of Page County.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton. Friends may also call at the Turner home at any time.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lily of the Valley Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 194, Shenandoah, VA 22849.
