William Farrell Shifflett Sr., 75, of Elkton, passed away Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, at Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilitation Center in Harrisonburg.
Mr. Shifflett was born Aug. 12, 1934, in Elkton and was the son of the late William J. and Irene Dean Shifflett.
Mr. Shifflett was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from the Norfolk and Western Railroad. He enjoyed country music, playing his guitar and fishing.
On Oct. 6, 1961, he married Cathy Walker Shifflett, who survives. He is also survived by a son, William F. \"Billy\" Shifflett Jr. of Elkton; three brothers, Marshall Shifflett, Ernest Shifflett and wife, Faye, and Owen Shifflett and wife, Bonnie, all of Elkton; and a number of nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Marie Shifflett.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Elkton with the Rev. Wayne Comer officiating. Burial will follow at the Elk Run Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton. Friends may also call at the Shifflett home at any time.
