Katherine “Kittie” Anderson DePoy, 69, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Thursday September 17, 2009 at the Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. DePoy was born on December 14, 1939 in Franklin, WV and was the daughter of the late William and Evelyn Ritchie Anderson. Kittie attended the University of Kentucky, James Madison University, and graduated from the Washington School for Secretaries in Washington D.C. She was a homemaker in her children’s early years and then assisted in her husband’s Development and Law offices as well as managed numerous rental properties locally. Mrs. DePoy was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Eastern Star, and the Harrisonburg City School Board. She also played Bridge weekly with the “Uptown Bridge Club” for 48 years. This group of wonderful ladies held a special place in her heart.
On June 5, 1959, she married Jack F DePoy who survives.
In addition to her husband, Kittie is survived by two daughters, Kathie DePoy Brandt and husband Randy of Fishersville, and their children, Katherine and Elizabeth, Ellen DePoy-Golden and husband Craig of Stephens City, VA and their children, Grant and Bryce; three sons, J.C. DePoy and wife Anne of Harrisonburg, and their children Mitch, Emily and Addie, Andy DePoy and wife Amy of Harrisonburg, and their children Hannah and Carter, and Bobby Rowe and wife Karen of Bridgewater and their children, Eric, Kyle and Jessica; and one brother, William Dyer Anderson and wife Anne of Annandale, VA one niece and one nephew.
A “Celebration of Life” service will be held on Saturday September 19, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg, with the Rev Dr. Cynthia Long officiating.
