Charlotte Catherine Moore, 82, of Elkton, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. She had been ill several years.
Mrs. Moore was born Sept. 25, 1926, in Harriston, and was the daughter of the late Walter and Florence Ray. She was married to the late Harry V. Moore, Sr.
Mrs. Moore attended Round Hill School in Harriston and also attended Augusta County Training School. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, where she served as a trustee and was considered one of the Mother’s of the Church.
She is survived by a sister, Janet Thomas of Rochester, N.Y. She also leaves to mourn her children, daughter Beverly Burrill-Hill and companion Chip; sons, Gary W. Moore, of McGaheysville, Kenneth P. Moore and wife, Marsha, of McGaheysville and Harry V. Moore Jr. and wife, Traci, of Harrisonburg, and step-daughter Mary Haines and husband, Charlie, of Waynesboro. She also leaves to mourn a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and many, many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3 o’clock on Sunday, Aug. 2, at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisonburg, with Pastors David H. Jones and Guy Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
