Barbara Jean Stillwell Funk, 65, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2009, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg. A daughter of the late Naomi St illwell, she was born on August 5, 1943, in Washington D.C.
Barbara was a member of Mount Pleasant Church of the Brethren in Harrisonburg and was a nurse’s aid at Sunnyside and VMRC healthcare. She enjoyed singing, collecting cookbooks, beading and family.
Surviving family include her husband, Daniel Franklin Funk; two daughters, Susan Weeks of Staunton and Denise Hottinger and husband, Nick, of Harrisonburg; one sister, Susan Thornton and husband, Wesley, of Middletown; two foster sisters, Shirley Silcott of Greenville, Fla. and Virginia Dellinger of Bridgewater; two grandchildren, Rachel Hottinger and Hannah Hottinger, and a niece and nephew.
A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday Aug. 1 at Mount Pleasant Church of the Brethren in Harrisonburg with Pastor Henry D. Elsea officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
