Randall David Life, 71, of Elkton, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at Chippenham Hospital in Richmond, where he had been a patient for one week.
Mr. Life was born Aug. 19, 1937, near Elkton, and was the son of the late Lawrence H. a nd Mary Jane Lam Life. He was a member of the Elkton United Methodist Church, the F.O.E. Aerie Eagles No. 4150 and was past president of the Elkton Lions Club. He had worked at E.I. Dupont DeNemours in Waynesboro and had last worked at Merck & Co. in Elkton.
Randall is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Conger Life; a son, Michael “Mickey” Life and wife, Patricia, of Elkton; two daughters, Laura Michelle Turner and husband, Edward Jr., of Elkton, and Melissa VanGilder and husband, Brad, of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; a brother, Ray Life and wife, JoAnne, of Port Republic; foster brothers, Jim Michael and wife, Yvonne, and Roger Michael; seven grandchildren, Randy and Kendra Life, Lea and Aaron Fletcher, and Jordan, Taylor and Charles “Chaz” VanGilder. Besides his parents, Randall was preceded in death by a sister, Imogene Hensley.
The Rev. David Reynolds will conduct the funeral service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Elkton United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville.
The family will receive friends this evening (Friday) from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton. Friends may also call at the Life home at any time.
