Truman Sherwood Meadows, 70, of Elkton passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Meadows was born Dec. 19, 1938, in Rockingham County and was the son of the late Nelson R. and Della H. Dean Meadows.
Truman was a lifetime resident of Elkton and retired from Greenwood Inc. in Elkton. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, watching his grandsons play baseball and his daily cruises around the neighborhood.
On June 4, 1966, he married Rebecca “Becky” Plum Meadows, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Greg L. Meadows of Elkton; a daughter, Teresa Kite and husband, Tim, of Elkton; a brother, Quinlyn Meadows and wife, Charlotte, of Elkton; a sister, Corenia Roach of Elkton; four grandchildren, Megan and Ryan Kite and Caleb and Jacob Meadows; nephews, Teddy Roach, Walstein Meadows, Rodney Meadows and Steve Meadows; nieces, Nancy Sanders and Connie Shifflett. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother and his wife, Earman and Daisey Meadows and brother-in-law, Theodore Roach.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Elkton with the Rev. Travis Hensley officiating. Burial will follow at the Elk Run Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton. Friends may also call at the Meadows home at anytime.
