Kenneth Paul Puffenbarger, 69, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at Avante of Harrisonburg. He was born on May 20, 1940, in Brandywine, W.Va., and was the son of the late Hilda Arlene Mitchell Wilfong. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Reba Madelene Foley Puffenbarger.
Mr. Puffenbarger was previously employed with Central Security Bureau and Harrisonburg Auto Auction. He enjoyed playing the fiddle and listening to bluegrass and country music. He also was a member of the Eagles Club.
Surviving family include his daughter, Betty Falls and husband, Ronald, of Hinton; four stepdaughters, Carolyn Sutherly and husband, Lloyd, of Mount Solon, Bonnie Lernerd of Timberville, Rita Haven and husband, Bill, of Linville and Mattie Southerly of Keezletown; four stepsons, John “Tim” Head and wife, Gail, of Broadway, Roy Head and wife, Shelby, of Timberville, Roger Head and wife, Martha, of Waynesboro, and Jonathan Head of Harrisonburg; four grandchildren, a number of stepgrandchildren and a number of stepgreat-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 18, 2009, at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisonburg. Burial will follow at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery in Mount Sidney.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
