Doris Jean Carver, 78, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2009, at the Sunnyside Presbyterian Nursing Home in Harrisonburg.

 Mrs. Carver was born on Oct. 6, 1930, in Rockingham County, and was the daughter of the late J.W. and Edna Dovel Clayton.

Doris was a homemaker and was also a member of the Vision of Hope United Methodist Church, formerly Mount Sinai United Methodist Church.

In July of 1951, she married Filmore Landes Carver, who preceded her in death in April of 1998.

Mrs. Carver is survived by her son, David F. Carver and wife, Ginger, of Hood, Va.; two grandchildren, Chad Patrick Carver and wife, Meredith, of Waynesboro, and Erin Rebecca Carver of Edinburg. 

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Vision of Hope United Methodist Church, 1723 Port Republic Road, Harrisonburg, VA 22801.
