Willard L. "Bobby" Dean

Willard Lee “Bobby” Dean, 58, of Elkton, went home to be with his Lord Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, at his home.

He was born Feb. 25, 1951, in Rockingham County and was the son of Ruby J. Hansbrough Dean of Elkton and the late Leon Henry Dean.

Mr. Dean worked for Burners for about 16 years and then moved on to Marshalls for 24 years before he began the battle with cancer for three years. During his sickness he spent most of his time with his mom, helping her with things she was unable to do at home. He was friendly, outgoing and was always there to lend a helping hand with family and friends. Also, he was a Dallas Cowboys fan, an avid cat lover, loved to fish with his children, go bike riding with his daughter and just sit around laughing and talking to everyone who was around him. Bobby, in his younger days, attended the Church of Solsburg near Elkton and Montevideo High School. He was also a U.S. Army veteran.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Lori A. Folk Dean; a son, Shannon L. Dean of Elkton; a daughter, Kristen R. Gallagher and husband, Chuck, of Grottoes; two brothers, Eugene L. Dean and wife Nancy of Boyton Beach, Fla., David A. Dean of Elkton; two sisters, Ruth E. Morris and husband Roy of Dyke, Mary E. Dean and companion Billy Ruehl of Dilwyn; brothers-in-law, William F. Dofflemyer Sr. of Elkton, Ritchie L. White of Minnesota; father-in-law, Muzon Folk of Verona and his companion, Lynn Dobbins of Waynesboro; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by family and friends and will always be in their hearts.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, at the Elk Run Cemetery in Elkton with Pastor Carter Dean officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton.

Memorial contributions may be made to the RMH Hospice, 235 Cantrell Ave., Harrisonburg, VA 22801.

Online condolences may be made to the family by visiting www.kygers.com.

I worked with Bobby at Marshalls back right out of school and he was an amazing
guy. His stories and sense of humor were absolutely incredible. I learned a
lot from Bobby- his work ethic and the ability to do a job while having fun!

I'm sorry to hear of his passing, but no doubt Bobby has left an impression on
many people!

I worked with Bobby and his Dad, Leon, at Burner Well Drilling for many years
and went to school with Bobby. Bobby always had a smile no matter what and was
a great person and will be missed by all. My thoughts and prayers are with the
family during this time but always remember the good times and know that things
a better for Bobby now.
