Samuel Mervin Lambert Jr., 68, of Harrisonburg, passed away Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Lambert was born Jan. 17, 1941, in Harrisonburg and was the son of Janet Ritchie Lambert and the late Samuel Mervin Sr. Sam attended Augusta Military Academy and Blue Ridge Community College. From 1962 until 1966, he served in the United States Air Force. Sam was a part owner of the L & S Diner prior to its sale in 2003.
On June 1, 1969, he married Lynn Grattan, who survives.
In addition to his wife and mother, Sam is survived by a daughter, Samantha Garguilo and husband Chris of Blacksburg; a son, Samuel Mervin “Sammy” Lambert III and wife Kristin of Penn Laird; a brother, Jeff M. Lambert and wife Bonnie of Freeland, Md.; a sister, Joyce Graves of Harrisonburg; and two granddaughters, Gwyna Kika Lambert and Bayla Wrigley Lambert.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with Pastor Porter Graves officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
