James Daniel Shifflett, 65, of Beldor near Elkton, passed away at his home Monday, Aug. 17, 2009.
Mr. Shifflett was born Oct. 10, 1943, in Rockingham County, and was the son of the late John and Bessie Hensley Glenn and the late Lynwood Shifflett.
James attended Elkton High School and Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church in his youth. He retired from American Safety Razor and was a member of the N.R.A. and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
On Oct. 2, 1964, he married his wife of 45 years, Juanita (Morris) Shifflett, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Lisa Wyant and husband, Wayne; a son, Michael Shifflett; and one very special grandson, Nathan Wyant, whom he enjoyed spending a lot of time with; five sisters, Louise Breeden, Gail Meadows, Nancy Helmick, Wanda Hensley, and Joan Thompson; stepmother, Pauline Shifflett; mother-in-law, Margaret Morris; special friends, Tony Shifflett, Allen Switzer, Carroll Harris and wife, Tammy, and children, McKenna and McKayla; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. James will be greatly missed by family and friends.
The Rev. Fuzzy Cardin will conduct a graveside service 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at the Elk Run Cemetery in Elkton.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton. Friends may also call at the Shifflett home at any time.
