Leonard Douglas Campbell, 85, of Harrisonburg, died on Saturday, May 23, 2009, at Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Campbell was born in Charles Town, W.Va., on June 6, 1923. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Elizabeth Campbell, in 1990.
Leonard was a Marine veteran who served during World War II and in the Korean War. He had previously been employed as a security guard and was a member of the Rion-Bowman VFW Post 632, American Legion Post 188 and FOE No. 4150 in Harrisonburg.
He is survived by three sons, Michael W. Campbell of Broadway, Leonard E. Campbell and wife, Theresa, and Jeffrey A. Campbell, all of Harrisonburg; one daughter, Anita G. Warner and husband, Mark, of Harrisonburg; daughters-in-law and best friends, Sharon Stover and husband, Skip Stover, and Loretta Mongold; 12 grandchildren, Tina Campbell, Randy Rexrode and wife, Kelli, Michael Campbell Jr., Theresa Kirby, Jessica Bodkin, Tiffany Bodkin, Brandon Campbell, Cody Campbell, Amanda Regan, Amanda Ratcliff, Jason Campbell and Mindy Campbell; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with Pastor Paul Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Weaver's Cemetery in Harrisonburg.
