Mrs. Betty Jo Funkhouser Martin, 81, of Dunwoody, Ga., died May 5, 2009.
Mrs. Martin was a graduate of Bridgewater College and a member of Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church, where she served as Director of Christian Education for 21 years. She enjoyed painting and jewelry making and was known for her great sense of humor. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her son, Capt. Robert Gary Martin. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Martin Gregory of Dunwoody; her son, Daniel M. Martin and his wife, Paula, of Sandy Springs, Ga.; three grandchildren, Brigitte Grace Gregory, Carolyn Martin and Kevin Martin; three sisters, Kathleen Armstrong of Churchville, Va., Janet Sonifrank and Grace Ann Florence, both of Bridgewater.
A service of remembrance will be held at Bridgewater Presbyterian Church in Bridgewater on Monday, May 11, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. The family will hold a private graveside service for Mrs. Martin at Mount Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville.
