Mattie Lou Maddox Dahmer, 90, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2009, at the Avante Nursing Home in Harrisonburg.

Mrs. Dahmer was born on Oct. 16, 1918, in Amherst County, Va., and was the last of nine children born to Cyrus Warren and Hortie Mae Cash Maddox.  Mattie retired after 40 years as a seamstress for Sancar.

Mrs. Dahmer is survived by a son, Ralph Steve Dahmer, of Harrisonburg, and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by four brothers, Henry Taylor Maddox, Daniel Warren Maddox, Arnold Grayson Maddox, and Marshall May Maddox; and four sisters, Corrie Humphrey, Virginia Angus, Judie Angus, and Vivian Ruth Cash.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the Fellowship United Methodist Church Cemetery near Lacey Spring with the Rev. Carl Davis officiating.
